Cool North Bay Wine Tour #2: "3 Valley's & a River Drive"

This is it everyone. I'm finally putting together the second Wine Tour. I was talking about it back in Dec. And even did a few drives with a few different groups. But this is the real one.

Date still to be desided.

First off i would like to say that next weekend (Sunday) i'll be doing a Pre-drive scouting thing to get the pace note mileage etc down on paper. So i'll be making many stops along the way.

The Wine Tours are set up for everyone to bring their "loved ones" along with them. Meening a nice mellow drive without a care in the world. Plus we will be doing lots of Wine Tasting so driving quickly is "OUT OF THE QUESTION"

If you feel like doing something quick come on the Clear Lake Drive. It'll be much faster. But i still hope to see many of my friends make this drive. The roads will be Outstanding to drive on and the wine Unbelievable.

We'll be stopping at
1) Hess Collection Winery- great wines and a great "free" art gallery

2) Rutherford Hill Winery- great wines and a cool wine tour that i hope everyone will want to go on.

3) Hanna Winery- in my top 5 wines of all time plus a great view of the Alexander Valley

4) Iron Horse Winery- maybe my favorite wines and great view of the Russian River area.

Plus we'll have lunch somewhere in Winsor after the Hanna stop.

Pre Mileage notes will be posted next.

Wow this is going to be a long day. But here are the Pre mileage pace notes for the Scouting route. This may be completely changed if the scouters deem it to be too long.

Meet at Washoe House in North Petaluma
@ 9:30 am and leave at 9:45

1) Head (south / east) on "Stoney Point Rd"

2) turn (left) onto "Railroad Ave"

3) turn (left) onto "Petaluma Hill Rd"

4) turn (right) onto "Roberts Rd / Pressley Rd"

5) at the end of the road turn (right) onto "Sonoma Mountain Rd"

6) at end turn (right) onto "Warn Springs Rd"

7) at the end turn (left) onto "Arnold Dr"

8) at end turn (right) onto "Sonoma Hwy 12" heading (south)

9) turn (left) onto "Cavdale Rd"

10) at end turn (right) onto "Trinity Rd / Dry Creek Rd"

11) turn (right) onto Mount Veeder Rd"

12) turn (right) onto "Redwood Rd"

13) visit our first winery "Hess Collection" and see the art collection

14) continue back onto "Redwood Rd" heading (south / east)

15) stay on "Redwood Rd" until it goes over Hwy 29 in Napa and becomes "Trancas St"

16) turn (left) onto "Silverado Trail"

17) Stop @ "Rutherford Hill Winery" for tasting and cave tour. "this winery may end up being skipped if time is a factor because we went there on the last wine tour.

18) Continue (north) on "Silverado Trail" through the beautiful Napa Valley

19) turn (left) onto "Tubbs Ln"

20) turn (right) onto "Route 128" (north)

21) Drive into Alexander Valley and make a stop at our next winery "Hanna" -it's a good place to take some nice pics of the cars with the views behind us.

22) turn (left) back onto 128

23) turn (right) onto "Chalk Hill Rd"

24) Turn (right0 onto "Pleasant Ave"

25) have lunch in the town of Winsor. Place has not been picked yet. Here if some people choose to leave they may.

26) turn (right) onto "Old Redwood Hwy"

27) go under Hwy 101 heading (west) onto "Windsor River Rd"

28) turn (left) onto "Eastside Rd"

29) turn left0 onto "Trenton / Healdsberg Rd"

30) at stop sign continue (straight) crossing River Rd.

31) right away there is a fork (stay left) on "Trenton Rd"

32) another quick fork (stay left) onto Laguna Rd"

33) then (veer right) onto "Vine Hill Rd"

34) turn (right) onto "Guernville Rd"

35) turn (right) onto "Gravenstein / Hwy 116" (west)

36) turn (left) onto "Ross Station Rd"

37) at the end of the road it becomes our last stop "Iron Horse Winery" It has an outdoor tasting room (it's not a room really) but it looks out over the Russian River area and the wine is the Tops.

from there we go our seperate ways. most likely back on 116 into Petaluma. Now if this scouting session takes way too long i'll come up with another route.

But there we have it. What do you think?

No problem Eric. I'll send you a PM when the whole thing comes together. I'd love to see you out there. the North Bay Group are some of the nicest people i've ever met.

Alright netzr0, be there next Sunday at the Washoe House @ 9:30 am. we'll be leaving from there.

like i said before chances are this will not be the final route so if you want to have a great time drive some kick a$$ roads come on out.

Oh, i already desided what kind of "Music Compilation" i'm making for the drive. It'll be a JAZZ comp. Real Jazz not that Smooth Jazz crap. As many of you know, all you need to do is ask for one and i'll hook you up. If you feel better by kicking down a dollar or two, or just bringing my a blank in exchange that would be great. The most important thing for me is to share you my friends some really great music.

Play list is on it's way.

John, the date has not been desided yet. I still need to run a few scouting missions to see how the time all works out.

Once i have that figured out i'll be sure to post it on the opening page.

is the music compliation for the actual drive? or for the scouts? either way, i would like one, and i'll give you a stack of blanks. i loved the last mix!

i'm very interested in both drives possibly, definitely for the real drive though. I need to see what I am doing next weekend...

i'll let you know.
