i use radios all the time when snowboarding... as long as you're within a reasonable distance and no major obstacles inbetween, such as you're at the bottom of one mountain and the other person is on the other side of the peak, it'll be okay. For our purposes, if everyone in the same group is on the same channel, there shouldn't be any problems communicating... however... if the advanced group is ahead 10 miles from let's say the chill group, it won't work so well...
