Any interest in a 4 seasons Rally series again?

In the past, the events were held all over the bay. The first event was in/around Santa Cruz. The second IIRC was in the North Bay/Santa Rosa area. There was another in the East Bay (Pleasanton, Oakland, Berkeley, etc.). I can't remember where the fourth event was but it was relatively close, like the others. Hijack a co-driver if you have to, these events are super fun!

Is that a new wing I see on the back of your car Rich?
Don't worry, Oregon Trail and Rim of the World both are mid-late April and I plan to be at both of them.

All really require a driver and co-driver (navigator). Driver follows instructions given by navigator. Navigator is the 'brains'; driver executes and stays on track and on speed/time.
Instructions are given out at the beginning of the rallies. You'll need a watch with seconds and maybe a flashlight.
TSD (time/speed/distance) rally:
Testing your ability follow route instructions to drive a constant prescribed average speed along a complex route. Your performance is checked at hidden 'traps' where your time is compared to the ideal time. If you get lost or run fast/slow, you have to get back on time. These seem to be run in stages. Psoper ran lots of these on dirt roads last year.
Pan-Am/Monte-Carlo-style:
You're given a map and written descriptions of checkpoints. The instructions are a bit like a scavenger hunt. The checkpoints are not perfectly described, and you'll receive hints along the way at 'standoff' points along the way. You have to arrive at checkpoints at a specific time, but how you get there is up to you.
You're allowed to get near the checkpoint early, then creep to cross the timer mark at exactly your time. Some of these go up to 13 hours long and are extremely fun. Experts get fewer clues at the standoffs, sometimes requiring orienteering skills to find the checkpoints. A big one is www.itnrally.org - there's an 8 hour one coming up near San Luis Obispo on April 7th which I and some other i-clubbers will be at. Right now, this is my favorite type.
History: Pan-Am is the American version of Monte Carlo-style rallying. In old Europe, rallies would start in multiple cities, and cars would drive to towns that may or may not have checkpoints. American GI's saw that, brought it to the states, and added the 'standoff' concept. The Pan-Am refers to the rallies which went from the States into Mexico.
Gimmick Rally:
Following instructions and rules given out at the beginning of a rally, try to navigate to all the checkpoints. The trick is that the instructions have to be followed exactly.. it's similar to a scavenger hunt. See www.therallyeclub.org for local ones.

Hey Pete,
Would it help move things along if I finished putting together my Marin/Sonoma TSD rallye? Also what about including the April Fool's Gimmick Rallye like we did last time?
Have fun in Mexico!
