While I'm on the subject of asking most random stuff....anyone know of a place thats hiring for a very easy job that requires little to no effort and where I don't have to work more than 20hrs a week? Preferably in town and I don't mind a minimum wage job either.

Well there different "shreds" to bomber avionics. "A" shred which is Communication/Navigation Avionics which is what I do. "B" shred which is Guidance and Flight Control Systems. "C" shred which is Electronic Warfare Systems.

Pretty much avionics in a whole, isn't all that busy when it comes to working on the planes. We have it pretty easy a lot of the times, but it can be busy as hell at times. Tech school is where its tougher. Avionics tech schools are longer than most other AFSC's and is tough. A lot of memorization and studying definitely. Once you hit your base you will have more training to teach you the systems on the specific plane your assigned to. Not that easy either.

Thanks for the run down Adam. I'm not too worried about how long the tech school may take and feel fairly confident I'll do a good job since I've always been interested in electronics. If for some reason I can't get loadmaster I think I'd like bomber avionics
I'm also concerned on being able to be stationed overseas but it seems like you get to TDY fairly often and more than usually overseas too which is what I'd like to do. Honestly....would you recommend it knowing what you know now?

In my reserve squadron it's a little more liberal as far as going TDY. I was trained on the road to be a flying crew chief so I can be eligible to go TDY.

Active duty avionics aren't as lucky. They pretty much never go TDY unless they get formally trained to be an Flying Crew Chief (FCC) or Assistant Crew Chief (ACC).

Then I must get formally trained eventually....lol. I'm trying to find more info on it but it sounds like something I'd like to do actually.

If you do want to become avionics and an ACC you need to start off on the right foot from the get go. It's def not easy to become an ACC being that you're not a crew chief.
