I'd like to buy a pistol right this moment and proceede to wait the 10day waiting period lol, but I know my mom would FLIP OUT if she knew I had a firearm in the house. I plan to get one once im out of tech school and off to my first duty station
I have considered a Glock 17 or 19. I went the shooting place off the highway in vacaville to check out the Glocks and the guy mentioned an XD to me as well. I held both a couple of Glocks and the XD and I couldn't stand how light weight the Glock was. I did prefer a few safety features and how the XD felt compared to the Glock.

I went to the gun store and bought one? You are allowed to own them. 10-round magazine limit, no full auto, blah blah blah.

It comes with a 10 round fixed magazine.
When i get sworn in, i get the option to purchase an AR-15 With 30 Round Detachable Magazine. Yes the california ILLEGAL ones, Yes its LEGAL for me =)
Nevertheless, the m4 Carbine is a nice gun.
Its just not an Ar-15
Ricky, when are we going to go shooting? Ill bring my glock and kimber for yhou to try out.

Out of all the guns that I have worked on, the XDs quality control is a hit or miss thing. Sometimes you get a good specimen, other times you get a bad one.
I would wait till they get things sorted out.
I just finished working on a co-workers duty gun - new Kimber Warrior. Had to do a good amount of work just to get it to work with my departments issue .45 ACP load ( Federal 230 gr. HST +P). The feed ramp, extractor, slide stop, beavertail, and trigger needed work. He is a bit pissed that he paid over $1K for a gun that needed more work to get it running right. I have noticed this with the current Kimber 1911s. The older ones were a lot better in quality and reliability out of the box.

I'll take your word for it and will have to make that reassesment with the mags in both guns
I'm pretty much waiting until after tech school anyways. My mom would flip out if I had a gun in the house, I won't be able to use it while in BMT of course, and probably limited time with it at tech school so it would just collect dust anyways.
You're 21 right? Go get one!
I was about to say...because an AR15 has been banned for quite some time in CA and you can only have one if it's pre-ban and damn near anyone under 35 can't legally own one.
When are we going shooting? God knows I have endless amount of time lol. I actually usually go to twin sisters and shoot out there since I have been for the passed 5years about. I've actually become quite addicted to shooting as another hobby
Taylor you are wrong, the weapon you purchased was an M4 Carbine, its an AR look-alike.
It comes with a 10 round fixed magazine.

Any polymer framed pistol will feel top heavy when the magazine is unloaded. It's just a matter of training with the weapon enough so it doesn't feel odd. Letting the pistol feel like an extension of your arm.

- feels comfortable/natural to me
- 9mm or .40
- easy to dissesamble for cleaning
- reliable & proven
- not horribly expensive since this is will be my first gun
I've pretty much looked at the Glock 19 and XD only so far.

ricky, im down when you are!!
Why are you limiting yourself to a 9mm or a .40 why not go with a .45 the stopping power of a .45 hollowpoint is ridiculous.
9mm is plinker
.40 is a good choice because when you ARE military you can get bigger mags and carry around like 15 round mags for a glock. Its fun =)
i choose 45 for personal carry but 40 for my duty pistol.
where do you go shooting at twin sisters, who do you know? The bocks?

I'm used to 9mm for plinking really and it's much cheaper to plink with it compared to a .40 or .45. Realistically those 3 choices will all stop someone for the most part.
I've known the Bocks for the passed 9yrs and we usually go their range. Hell I was just hanging out with Thomas lol.
