I have some company now! Congrats to 'Red98GT' on the WRX swap.

What was the cost, and how is the reliability? I would love to drop an ej20 into my '00 Impreza L. Maybe I'll have enough cash saved up in a few years. Very nice cars, guys. Have you taken any WRX's by suprise yet?

VERY NICE. i'd love to drop either an ej20t or moreso, an ej22t into my 95... i want to know how hard the swap was and stuff like that, basically the same thing he asked.

nobody ever answered the cost question. I'm considering doing this swap. I'm curious about the cost of the engine and the actual work. Thanks for the info. Also, how do you like it and how fast is it (if you've done any racing)

Here's a quick summary of what you need for the swap:
- WRX engine with turbo, intercooler, intake piping, uppipe, downpipe, wiring harness
- WRX ecu
- WRX crossmember or Legacy Turbo crossmember
- WRX boost controller
- WRX fuel pump
- WRX power steering resovoir
- New clutch if MT
- Miscellaneous fluids
- Labor
Price tag should be in the area of $6500-$7500 US. for parts and labor. The cost will vary depending on how much you can get the listed parts for. The engine will vary in price depending on the km. and where you get it. Obviously used parts are cheaper and aftermarket parts will increase costs. Labor costs vary depending on who you go to perform the swap.
My swap came in just under $10G's, but that was a year ago with an 02' engine with only 5000 miles on it, Sti engine mounts, ECU tuning, Brullen uppipe, Blitz SBC-iD boost controller, Blitz BOV, Walbro Fuel Pump, and custom Brullen 3" exhaust.
I haven't got it dyno tuned, but it's fast. I should be running close to 220 HP at the wheels comparing my car to a WRX with similar mods that got dyno'd here.
