The following is an excerpt from Car and Driver's preview in the September 2003 issue:
We spent a day at Fuji Raceway trying to make these cars cry. The turbo model claims a 0-to-62-mph time of 5.8 seconds, and it gets there with a vibrant, singing exhaust note. It has great balance, steering that is light and progressive, and an absence of oversteer owing to the all-wheel drive. It was great fun to toss around. It should cause concern for a lot of pricier cars, and we think the U.S. car's power sacrifice shouldn't dissuade anyone. With any luck, the turbo car should sell in the $27,000-to-$29,000 range, with the blown wagon going for $3000 more.
Car and driver sees 27-29 base and 32K as a max (loaded with options).
The truth is, the turbo motor is not that much more expensive than the NA motor (note the cost differential with the Forester I mentioned earlier).

If its over 30G, they aren't going to sell more cars than if it is around 26~28G
i'm in love with new legacy
so i'll probably get it even though if its around 30G
but Honda,Mazda,Toyota,Hyundai and other brands sedans are goin for under 30G
except for Honda full loaded
Subaru should make it around 26~28G for turbo
that way they can sell more cars and they car prove to more people that SUBARU IS WAY TO BE:banana:

the legacy turbo sounds like it is going to compete with audi, bmw, and MB not honda mazda toyota and the like because it will be out of the price range, performance and options offered(turbo awd and wagon) but the NA versions will
the turbo model should get plp from the VW Audi BMW MB brands because of the offering for the price because just look at a passat with AWD and a turbo it is in the 35k-40k if i can remember right

They can very easily compete in the low 30 range with a 250hp turbo charged engine. Also, has anyone seen the interior shots of the new car!?!?! They are european spec and then some. Amazing

Time for some math
In australia, the pricing for a WRX 5-speed and Liberty GT Sedan (the Liberty is our Legacy-GT is the turbo) are as follows.
WRX- $42,490 AU
GT- $50,990 AU
The WRX retails at $24,495US MSRP
The ratio for the cost difference between the Au WRX and US WRX is 24,495/42,490 or 0.576
Multiply the 0.576 times the $50,990Au, and you get $29,395
No there may be some differences in packaging, marketing, and so on....but here is another way of looking at it.
By the way, I don't feel that GM is poising Subaru to fight the Euro Imports, that is for Cadillac. It seems to me more likely that they are focusing on the Japanese premium cars, like Acura, Infinity, and the lower end euro premium cars like Volvo and VW.
Just my $.02

Derbagley has a point
i was wrong in my first post not BMW and Audi but volvo and VW sound better along with the japanese premiums
but who knows maybe if they release a 3.0TT at 40k then they might have bmw 5 plp turning heads just wish there was more info to look at right now

wagon will debut same time as the sedan.
hopefully the packaging will cross over (i.e. tranny and engine packages).
However I have heard that the wagon will be more expensive than the sedan due to the number of extra wagon only convenience items. Not sure though.
I've also heard that the wagon is far better in the headroom catagory, especially the rear seats.
