Legacy GT: Honda? Toyota Camry?
Its a shame that this car has no character whatsoever!! I can't tell it from a Honda Accord, Toyota Camry or any other "vanilla" sedan on the market! If Subaru didn't drop the ball on styling they would have had a winner!! In the meantime I bought the 04 WRX but if they changed the exterior of the car to reflect the performance I certainly would buy one! Cmon Subaru don't blow it next year!!

are you kidding? I'll admit subarus have lately lost a little of their uniqueness, but you aren't looking under the skin of the car with comments like that. Drive it for more than a week and lets hear you say the same ****. If you want character you have to put some miles on it. That's like saying a newborn has no character. Of course not, they don't even know what's going on.

Thats Exactly My Complaint
Car looks like a Honda or Toyota Camry, didn't say it performed like one. Problem is this car simply disappears in the crowd. Try finding this one in a parking lot! If Subaru had styled the car to reflect performance they would have had a huge winner. I don't know if I own a Volvo Honda Toyota or Subaru! Simply put they put some styining in this car and i'll be the first on line.

The back end can be mistaken, the front along with the scoop are easy to recognized. I agree, when driven one will know it's not a Toyota or Honda. The TL is more catchy than the LGT. Those two along with the TSX were my 3 choices. Didn't look into cars that are more. The LGT do not stand out like the WRX or STi, but it's targeted toward a certain crowd who might not want to stand out, look wise.

Furthremore, notice the slogan for subaru: "Driven by what's inside"

I'm glad they're finally putting more performance in to cars that otherwise "blend in". I don't need everybody to know what i've got under the hood, thats just asking to get the bad kind of attention

blending in is a good thing, the LGT has the same hood scoop as the older body style outbacks...if I were a cop seeing my LGT zip on by I might not give it a second glance and go after the riced out honda or Toyota behind me.

i sell these cars for a living- and i agree with you. slightly. i have to say though... that there are some acura lines as well as some volvo and bmw lines. in this day and age, there is no such thing as being original... just recycling a look from the past and hoping no one remembers it.
the only exception is this- to make a car so severely "out there" that it forces people to look at it. hence the imprezas of recent years.(WRX, STi)
with the marketing startegy of subaru- to reach a target european audience -
and i know that the majority of that market do not favor a car of extreme looks like the STi. keep in mind that the legacy did get car of the year in Japan last year. a first for the legacy...and subaru for that matter. in Japan! Subaru up till then was not even in the top 10 in terms of ratings.
i hope these pics (borrowed from IS2Scooby) will help us determine the succesibility of the legacy in the u.s. market.
