Cams

Does anyone make a good cam for a NA Legacy? I think this would be my most likely mod if I'm going to do one. Thanks for the help.

Look in the NA forum on NASIOC for Delta Cams. $75 each but you have to send yours to them for modification.

For modification? Do you know of any reviews?

The cams are "reground". There is plenty of info.
Have never heard of a problem with them. Search is your friend.

I have Cobb Street Performer cams in my GT. Nice upgrade, even though the engine is a bit louder. Better low-end torque when it was combined with my other mods.

What other mods do you have? This would be my first, so do you think I'd notice much gain?

Or what about a lighter pulley instead?

If I had to mod my car all over again from the start, I would do cams first. I put in the cobb street cams in and was very happy with the gains. By far the most HP per dollar you could ever spend on the N/A 2.5 (not including nitrous)
Better yet are the TWE cam selections. They are more $$$ but have better engineering and results.
Delta regrinds are by far the cheapest.

When I put the Cobb Street Performer cams in, I'd already done a lot, and added a Cobb Power Pulley and Exedy flywheel at the same time. It was hard to gauge how much the cams improved the car, but those items added up to a lot nicer power.

The most bang-for-buck I think I ever noticed was going from the stock airbox to a Cobb CAI. The only other mods at the time to the engine was an UOR Underdrive pulley, Borla header and Fujitsubo catback. It REALLY woke the car up, and I'm not just talking about the sound.

Cams are a nice upgrade if you can afford to take the heads off, or are doing headgaskets and will have them off anyways.

My next power mod, and one of the last out there short of cracking the block or a turbo, is replacing the Borlas with a set of TWE EL headers. It'll sound different, but I know it's going to move a bit quicker too.

you don't have to take the heads off to do cams.
it takes about 6-8 hours to put them in the car.

You're absolutely right ImprezaRSX. I'm not sure what I was thinking of.
