Will the '04 WRX Guages work in an '02 WRX?

I'd like to know if getting the '04 guages into my '02 rex would be a pain in the azz.

Basically, I know the fitment isn't an issue....but what about the wiring? Will the harnesses be the same or different? Is this a plug and play kind of mod or am I gonna have to go a splicing?

if you are referring to a JDM 04 STi gauge cluster, it will plug'n'play after you cut one wire in the middle harness of the cluster (actually you can just carefully remove it from the plug with a small precision screwdriver).....I think it's wire b28 if I remember correctly..........you will have zero issues........as for the USDM STi cluster, I am not sure.....

Actually, I mean the straight up WRX one...seems like it wouldn't be too hard to find with all the guys trying to go STi.

I basically just want my Tach in the middle

From what I've heard, it's just a straightforward swap. Just be careful and take your time when you do it.
And if you do find a USDM STi gauge cluster, it's just as easy too.

I wonder what the price is on it? The '04 regular WRX Guages or the STi Guages...wouldn't mind either...especially if it's that easy to switch to STi.

For the USDM 04 STI cluster swap into a 03 WRX (which I'm pretty sure is the same for an 02 WRX) one needs to cut wire B27 which is a ground wire (it's solid black and on the center plug) and wire B28 whcih has no purpose on the WRX (it's the yellow with green stripe wire on the center plug). I have a pic if you want one and an excel file I made showing the comparison between the 04 STI wiring and 03 WRX wiring for the center plug with the color codes.

I'll see if I can get around to sending the file tonight, but if you are looking for a 04 STI USDM cluster you may wanna check out ravspec.com that is where I got my cluster.
