What's the flip thing infront of mirror (pics inside)

Just got my WRX not ago and was playin around with it....was curious of what this is and what it's used for.

suuuppooosed to stop sun ovre the mirror... but it works a lot better if you unbolt it, flip it around then bolt it again

i moved mine b/c i wired my v1 there though

It does help with the sun, it also serves another purpose. When you drive at night, and a passenger turns on one of the map lights, pull it to the down position, you will notice that it prevents the map light from shining on the rearview mirror= better/safer rear vision. This was it's original intended use I believe, maybe not.

That's what I always thought it was for. It's too small to be of much help in blocking out the sun, especially when it's shining at low angles

This is what I have heard also. It's too small and not far forward enough to block any sun for me.

when its lowered down.. that's the time it adds HP...
i use it to cover the wire for my V1 if i take it out.
