Underhood Insulation
Has anybody taken out the underhood insulation? I think it would make the engine bay look extra clean, but I was wondering if it would create any heat problem for the paint on the hood or something random like that. I don't think the added noise would be any big deal. Thanks.

That underhood insulation is mainly to help quell fire in the engine bay should it happen. I've had mine off for about 18 months and I haven't had any problems with paint flaking or warping. I also have the front rubber seal off too, but I'm putting that back on because the hood does the funky chicken when I'm cruising at speed.
BTW, I don't have all that stuff on because I'm too lazy to put it back on, not because it offers a performance benefit of any kind.

haha....ok. I just took mine out and put in under the board in the trunk, over the top of the spare tire. Maybe help quiet down my straight-pipe for the back seat passengers a bit! haha. I like how clean it looks now, but I think I'm going to paint the bottom side of the hood scoop now to match the car. Gotta get some silver high temp paint.
I think that's a project for another weekend though. I started installing new springs this weekend, but broke my tools when I tried to take out the bolts holding the back struts in. So now my car waits, in attack position (front lowered, back still stock ) until tomorrow when stores open up again!! haha...
Thanks,
Bill H.

Great!...thanks...I'm going to try to get to it tomorrow morning, but I doubt it. Otherwise I have to wait 2 1/2 weeks until I'm done w/ school... oh well.
