Speedware Motorsports Harness Bar Install
Speedware Motorsports Stainless Harness Bar
1) Start by removing the covers from the seatbelt mounting point on the pillar. Use a small flathead (blade) screwdriver to gently pry open the covers.

2) Remove the 14mm bolt that holds the seatbelt to the pillar.

3) Gently remove the plastic back piece by prying at the top then pulling it apart the rest of the way.

4) Using a small flathead (blade) screwdriver, insert it into one of the openings in the circular retaining clip at the end of the bolt and unscrew the bolt. Don’t ruin it, because it is needed later on.

5) Take the bolt out and get the shorter of the 2 bolts that were included in the hardware kit. Put a washer on the bolt, and then there is a small spacer, that goes on this bolt as well. Put it through the shoulder restraint thing. Put the spacer back on and the little circular clip that keeps it all on the bolt.
6) Remove the black lower panel from behind the seatbelt. There is a plastic rivet on the rear door side, remove that. You will have to also lift (not remove) the plastic doorsills.

7) Pull back the carpet and locate the 14mm bold that holds the lower end of the seatbelt to the car. Be careful and take a look at the hardware order on the removed bolt. This important later on.
8) Take the longer of the 2 sizes of bolts that came in the hardware kit, and assemble as follows: Washer, Rod End, Washer, Factory Seatbelt Plate, Spacer, Plastic Retainer. Be sure that the belt is not twisted or you will have trouble later on.

9) On the backside of the carpet where the 14mm seatbelt bolt was removed you will notice that the carpet has a white backing except for a small circle where the head of that bolt would be when installed. I cut a small X within that circle to push the bolt through. I chose this method because to put the whole bolt behind the carpet you would need to cut more to allow the bar to fit as well.

10) Take the orders of the new assemble (step 8) and apply it here. This time remove the Plastic Retainer, Spacer, and Factory Seatbelt Plate. Push the rest of it through the carpet and put the other parts back on.
11) When step 10 is complete it should look like this.
12)If you wish to add a harness it should look like this.
13) Make sure that the seatbelts are at the level you want them at. It will be very difficult or impossible to adjust them when the bar is in place. They both must be at the same height. When installing the harness bar, be careful to not scratch the plastic. Have a friend help you out. Also some rags might help reduce the scratching if you use them as padding. Take the shoulder restraint thing and put that through the hole on the harness bar on both sides of the car. The bar fits quite snug between the two pillars. So it can be a bit difficult to line up.
14) Before tightening the bar, make sure it is at a desired level when comparing it to the front seats.
15) Tighten everything back down when you get it where you want it. Put the plastic covers back on.
16) Take the long support rods that come from the floor and attach them to the harness bar with the allen bolts. You have to adjust the length of these to get them to fit. When you get them to line up, tighten the bolt. Now twist the bar to get it even more snug. Then tighten the jam nuts on both ends of the rod.
