Shifter questions
I currently have the STI shift ****. Uncomfortable to hold and gets cold/hot in different weather. im thinking of getting the race air **** from MOMO. What is better, for fast shifting, comfort, and long drives: The round sphere ***** (momo race air) or the MOMO f16's: look smaller, round, but not completely round, . And also just a quick question, kind of dumb but im a complete newbie, i want the kartboy short shifter, can i call the dealer and can they install it for me, and if they install will it not void the warranty for anything? Thanks.

as far as the comfortable shape... it all depends on how you hold the shifter. I personaly wrap my hand around from the top (top of the **** in the top of my hand and the fingers wrap around the side) for that the sphearical ***** are better, if you hold it with your palm on the right side and your thumb on top you'd be better off with the other one for comfort. As far as shifting goes I think the sphearical one would be better.
I have a Kartboy short shift installed in my car. it was rediculously easy to install. you dealer may or may not install one for you and they may or may not be ****** about the warantee.
installing after market stuff in your car and having your warantee blown off is something that changes from dealer to dealer. Just keep in mind that putting an air freshener in your car is considered installing an aftermarket part. The only time I've heard of someone having problems with an after market shifter is when they had their 1st gear transmission gate bent, they said that that because they installed the after market short shift it voided the warantee ON THAT PART.
if you have the dealer install it for you they'll be a lot better about it. see if they can order it too (they'll like that better) and if you get the kartboy short shift you should probably get the bearings too... Makes a BIG difference.
hope that helps

I installed mine myself, just follow the directions on the link below:
Definately have a Rubber Mallet when you do it, mine was a tight fit (the ball on the kartboy is a lil bigger i think) and i spent about an hour beating the kartboy in with my old shifter...
with no luck
i couldn't drive to the hardware store, so i ran there... bought the stinking mallet and ran back... and in 5 shots... it was in.
And if you're scared about mods to your car and warranty... learn to do everything yourself (i'm a noob):
1. You put it on... you can take it off =)
2. You know exactly what's done to your car
3. and it's more satisfying... cuz it's your work

I agree... definitly doing everything yourself is great... but it's safe to know what you dont know... in other words dont get it in your head that you can do anything... accecpt the things you dont know how to do and either learn... or find someone who know what they're doing.

i called one of the dealers and asked about this and got yelled at by some part guy. he says we will not have anyything to do with after market parts and it will void your entire warranty!!!! he says you guys with your wrx's wanna put all these aftermarket parts on and the guys from subaru really dont like it!! so iw as like bye! and then i called another dealer who was very nice about it and said yeah it shouldnt do anything to the warranty stop by and talk to us! but me being 16(yes im one of those spoiled kids who got a wrx) will feel kinda weird bringing it in, but whatever- thanks.

yeah you just gotta know what dealers are good and what are not worth buying cars at. personaly my dealer is great... last time I went in for an oil change I talked with the parts manager for a half hour about all the nasty things I could do to it ")
dont feel spoild getting it as your first car. you deserve it as long as you remember to do 2 things:
1. Treat it with the respect it deserves: keep it tuned, keep it clean, keep it out of a ditch, and most importantly if you mod it remember that it's not some junk civic rice.
2. remember number 1 and be happy you're so lucky to have that car.
there are grown adults who buy their own who dont deserve it, I've seen ****** driving ferrari's who dont deserve to... as long as you respect your car it will respect you and no one will think any less of you for having such a nice car at 16 ")

A car to be jealous of is my car when i was 16... i'm 21 now btw...
Red 1987 Subaru GL Wagon... Automatic with the On the Fly 4WD!!! and peeling tint...
broken cv boots, cracked radiator, leaking oil, always pulled to the left... right into traffic, won't unlock the driver side door sometimes (i have to crawl in the passenger side), and more...
but dam... it drove like a dream and never failed me (except for when the battery cable came loose in the middle of an intersection)
i love that car (currently more than my wrx silver wagon)

thank you, as for respecting my car i think i do a great job, think twice before doing things. If im doing donuts in the snow or racing or something risky like that, i do it once or twice and whenever i have the urge to do it really badly again, i dont. I feel that with doing this i can like control myself and nothing will happen to my car. especiially since insurance is a *****. i hate all ricers, especially when i see a fart can driving around. thanks
