it means you switched on the switch on the top of the steering column, which activates the parking lights

the point of the switch is to turn on the parking lights. I used it if I have to park in the middle of the driveway at work at night. I can't just leave my headlights on because I need my keys to get back into the store (and wouldn't want to leave the keys in the ignition at night when I'm not around) so people see my car when they come zooming into the parking lot

Oh, and everyones made that mistake AND posted about it I think
