You can't do your engine parts at home unless you are willing to disassemble the motor and bake them in your oven. There are bound to be toxic fumes - I wouldn't try it. Here's Merijon's Powder Coating site that might help illustrate what is involved. Forgive the web design of the business' site - it's the content that's important here.

Here's Eastwood's powder coating tools (you'll be re-directed to Eastwood's site automatically).

P.S. - The first link to Merijon's is hard to access. Damn GeoCities sometimes says that they've exceeded their bandwidth allotment. Try Powder Coat Finishes, LLC as an alternative.

EDIT: I was wrong on the 'toxic' part - http://www.smud.org/etc/itroom1.html

In my Yellow Pages, there are 17 listings under Powder Coating. I'd call a local shop for prices if nobody here has had it done. I think it would look really good but much of the motor is not visible, at least on a WRX. The intake manifold would be the piece I'd want to have done.

For a header, do a search under 'ceramic coating'.
