performance effects of removing the STi wing

performance effects of removing the STi wing
obviously, the wing does give downforce.
How much though, is it noticeable when the wing is removed? More understeer? The *** not sitting down on the track, etc?
I plan on getting an STI but without the STI wing (instead, maybe the regular wrx sti wing like the spec-c).
any help, graphs/charts would be great.
Also, how is high speed stability, etc? I know it should go faster b/c of less drag.

As a rule of thumb, usually a wing stops producing any noticeable downforce (or negative lift) at ~75mph or below.
At cruising speed in a residential district, (ie 25 mph) the wing is just dead weight. On a highway, you are usually cruising at 65mph (supposedly ) so the wing does produce some downforce but nothing enough to affect handling. As for the track, I think the Subaru can do fine without the stock wing. Notice the GT type wing on the Spec C Type RA that they took to Nurburgring. The shape defines the wing more than its appearance.

The site above give useful information about airfoils and wings. So thumb through and see if theres anything that piques your interest. For the wing, the more serious wing out of the bunch that I have seen is the Spec C Type RA wing (looks and effectiveness). But the others that I have seen including the stock Sti wing don't look that effective.
