painting skirts
anyone had their skirts painted or done it themselves ?
what happens to that rubber strip along the top of the skirt ?
does it get removed ? or does it get painted too ?
did your skirt get painted while attached to the car, or is it removed first ?
thanks

ive had my skirts painted during an installfest awhile back. the rubber strip was removed, and so was the skirt itself.
do not paint the skirt with the rubber strip on. that strip will flex too much and the paints will begin to crack.

I don't know how reccomended it is, I've found some good stories and some bad. I am having my new wing and spoiler pro-sprayed at a shop...
But I'm gonna try spraying my rear spatz myself, and if that works out well, also the side skirts.
You can buy colour-matched pro-paint from here... http://www.paintscratch.com/
they also have painting advice/instructions.
instrux...
clean,de-grease,sand, primer, sand, clean, basecoat, clearcoat, dry, polish
I have an RS-T so not sure if WRX has the rubber strip

Acutally, I had the entire OEM sides painted INCLUDING the rubber strip. If you go to a good shop, they should know to include a flex agent in the paint to resist the chipping and cracking that you may have heard about. I've had the skirts for over a year and there is not one crack or chip on either the skirt or the rubber strip.

mmboost was the person who helped paint my skirts. when he did his skirts he painted the rubber strips. i think he added the flex agent, and it still cracked.
one tip after painting the skirts make sure you tell folks to lift their feet before he step inside, because they'll scuff the paint. mines already scuffed up.
