Odometer readings

is the odometer readings stored in the ECU or the Cluster? if i get a STi cluster does my milage switch over to whatever is on the cluster or is it going to be whats stored in the ecu?

not sure about the sti, but the wrx stores it in the cluster. i have an 02 wrx and i upgraded to an 04 cluster and mileage went from 64,441 to 79 miles. kinda weird tracking the oil changes....
