Large Fogs for 04 Wagon
I'm wanting to change the fogs on my 04 wagon from the USDM style (small) to the JDM style (130mm).
If I researched everything correctly, I understand that for a Sedan to make the switch that the 'bumper back beam' and the 'bumper energy absorber' need to be replaced with the JDM parts to make room for the larger fogs. Alternatively, the USDM parts can be cut to make room. I don't have the skills/tools to mod the beam to make room on my wagon, so that leads me to ask a couple of questions for the forum.
1. Is the USDM part for the back beam the same on the Sedan and the Wagon? I've contacted japanparts.com and they don't know. My assumption is that if it is the same in the US, then the JDM Sedan part will be a direct fit.
2. Is the USDM part for the energy absorber the same on the Sedan and the Wagon? This is the part that I'm thinking might be different between the two body styles. If they're different, then I won't order the JDM absorber and I think I can probably shave/shape my stock US absorber.
3. Are any wiring mods necessary? I can easily handle this myself if changes are needed, I'm just trying to get all the facts first.
4. Is it necessary to do an bracket fabrication to mount the 130mm lights? or do brackets come with the light kit for a direct bolt on mount.
For anyone looking for a complete parts list which will definately work on Sedans, everything is available from japanparts.com. Here's the list:
113-372-711 FRONT BUMPER BACK BEAM
113-371-705 FRONT BUMPER ENERGY ABSORBER
069-006-003 LARGE FOG LAMP KIT / CLEAR
069-006-009 FOG SURROUND GARNISH PAIR
Total price is a little under $600 dollars shipped to SoCal.
Thanks to everyone that did alot of this work for me to learn from, now hopefully some of my follow-on questions can be answered for my project.
