JDM & EDM projectors

I know the light pattern difference between the 02-03 EDM and JDM projector headlights but which set is the flat black and which set is the black chrome?

Hey Guys,

I believe that the early 02s were the black chrome for JDM or an option. I have some JDM factory HIDS and they are NOT black chrome.

IMPREZER has a set of black chrome ones but I do not know of any one else.

I always read that the black chrome head lights were the JDM STi head lights w/ factory HID. for the most part the flat black head lights are going to be the non-HID head lights while the black chrome units are gonig to be the factory HID lights, and will cost a WHOLE lot more.

The JDM lights are for RHD countries and will blind oncoming traffic if used in the USA.
It is not easily possible to make them non-blinding.

They are illegal, and dangerous.
If you install them on your car I hope you get busted.

damn, did you have a bad experience???

Both the LHD and RHD STi head lights are illegal since neither is DOT apporved. Many people get the JDM lights b/c they cost less than the EDM lights. They aim them low or open them up and grind the lens mask that creates the cut off line to produce a cut off that is flat. I would spend the extra money and get the EDM's just to be safer. They sine a lot more light on the right side of the road and help you see street signs a little better.

Nice Comment,

The first thing is that I got me headlights for FREE!! and I have gone through the trouble of aiming them to the right as far as they will adjust!! I have also got the internal leveling motors hooked up so that I can adjust them on the fly and I have never been brighted by another motorist!

So if you do not like it tough cookies!

Super

I'll be sure to ask Imprezer about his chrome ones. And thanks Uncle Scotty, but I know all that. Just didnt know which one had the flat and which one had the chrome finish. That's one detail that never comes up in conversation.

dont worry, almost everyone has the JDM's. the only reason i got the EDM's were beause the body shop that did my front end work when i got into an accident gave me credit for stock replacements and all i had to do was come up w/ the balance to get the EDM's

No worries here!

I think that the U.S. should have gotten the same headlights as the EDM and JDM market. But there is nothing we can do about that now!!
