?Imitation hood vents in 2004???

Just wanted to get some feedback about the prospect of this -

I've had these imitation hood vents lying around for over a year now... I think I got them off of eBay for really cheap - like $12 or something. Anyways, I've always loved the way the hood vents looked on the GC8's... always thought they just looked completely badass...

Don't have pics of it actually mounted yet, but here's a teaser. What do you guys think? I'll try to get around to taking some actual pics later.

Here's a teaser of what it *might* look like... I wonder...
Is it too Rice? Or is it a nice throwback to the old GC8's???

Heh... yeah, ideally I'd like to do some functional ones - that would be optimal (or maybe even get some actual GC8 ones and put *those* on, but I'm on a limited budget right now and there are other projects I'm looking into also like that hide away LCD mounting thing... BTW, anyone have an idea how much it would cost to cut holes into the hood and mount these so that they are functional?

Anyway, here are some test pics with them on - tell me what you guys think. Not quite sure how to photochop them into the silver paint color though...

Please don't do it unless they are functional. If I would do it I would try to have them look like the GC8 vents.

I wouldnt do it. Sell them on e-bay. Buy some real ones from your subie dealer, or find some in a junk yard (not only the 2.5 RS had the vents). Have a VERY respectable auto body shop install them. It would be like $200 more, but look sweet. You wouldnt get flammed, proably admired.

Nah, it's the baked headlight mod with the amber stuff removed.

BTW, question for the GC8 guys / people with hoodvents - are those things just open to the air? What I mean is if water gets in, does it just drip onto the engine below?
