higher wattage H1 bulbs

friend gave me some H1 bulbs, low beam from his Rsx for my 04 wrx, they have a light blue tint on the bulb and say H1 75w. I put them in and they seem good, just whiter light no purple or blue look but will the extra wattage where they are 75w hurt my wiring or headlights?

If they truly draw 75w they might melt your wires. If it's that strange "55w=75w" that some companies use to advertise you'll be ok.

you might be fine w/ the 75 watt bulbs but there still might be a chance that they will melt your wires. like 04blkWRX stated, if they are fake 75watt bulb that really run at 55 watts you'll be fine. a lot of the time aftermarket bulb companies tint the glass on the bulb to give the light a whiter "look" to make you think your getting more light. thats why they label them "75 watt". in reality your getting less light because the blue tint acts as a filter that limits the amount of light.
