help: no power, mileage resets, etc

****problem fixed******

heres the deal. i was installing my new defi gauges where the oe clock is located, so i unplugged the clock harness with the 4 wires, removed the oem clock/pod.
i removed some of the black tape back on oem harness so i can "T-connect" the wires from the defi control unit to those oem harness wires so i can keep the oem harness incase i need the clock for later.

i cut some of the colored tubing away from a good spot in the middle of each wire for the T-connection with the defi control unit.

when i cut the skin off of the black (ground) wire and made contact with the actual wire metal on metal, it sparked a little bit/little bit of smoke.

--ever since,
1) my temporary mileage (A+B) gauge keeps reseting to 0 every time i turn the car off and turn it back on.
2) my dome lights and left/right lights up front do not turn on.
3) my stereo no longer turns on.

everything else electrical ie my other gauges, headlights, alarm, instrument panel lights, turbo timer, etc all works perfectly fine.

im not sure if i shorted out something? or what exactly happened here.
i checked my fuses, my fuses for those things that dont work seem to be fine with nothing burnt out, cut or anything.

i know.. maybe i shouldve done this in the first place with my negative terminal disconnected....-_- wasnt thinking.

please advise and help,
any info would be appreciated
thanks,
Justin

did you try to remove your ground yet? try to remove the wires one at a time to see if you can rule the wires out of the problem.

Check the fuse for the constant 12v. I can't tell you which one it is though.

And in the future remember to disconnect the battery when doing any work on the car, ESPECIALLY electrical work.

solution: replaced the burnt clock fuse under hood with ac fuse. (i dont have ac anymore)
