DIY Diamond Plate Floor Mats???
Looking for a do it yourself for some of these mats for my car. they look nice and seem to be much more durrable then the cloth. but 150-200 bucks seems a little spendy. if anyone has done this or knows a thread for it. please let me know..
thanx

possibly might be slippery. but they use the same material to make step ups and running boards and all kinds of other stuff for trucks.. and not like your doing a lot of running or anything in your car. so the slip factor would not really be a problem i would not think.. not ror me anyway

I made some for my car. I used a Jigsaw and broke 3 blades in the process. Theres no way in the world that a dremel would work...unless you have 18 hours to kill...
Anyway, I used the factory floormat to draw an outline and then I cut them out of the diamond plate with the jigsaw. Then i set them in the car and used my foot to bend them into the floor line. Just make sure the edges where you cut are smooth or it will snag and ruin your carpet.

so how did the jig saw work as far as being a smooth cut? and how did they turn out after all was said and done? have any pics?? but still sounds like a very easy do it yourselfer.. and where did you buy the diamond plate stuff at?? homedepot? what would you say your total cost was?

i assume you are going to do the front and back. have them (home depo) cut the back for you. I am sure there are some heavy duty sand paper to smooth it out....(?) have fun!
