DC power socket question

I was wondering if anybody knew how to somehow split the wiring to the DC CAR SOCKET so that you can make a duplicate one behind the console? I went to Radio Shack and bought a DC Socket for 8 bucks, but I'm not sure how to install it. I want to do this because my radar detector is taking up my current socket and i want to run the wire behind the console so I can still use the current socket for something else (like a phone charger). I have a '06 WRX wagon but I'm pretty sure the wiring is the same for all models.

you have to bust out the multi meeter to check the polarity and splice into it

check how many amps your running because you might blow the fuse
