Make certain that the cupholder tray is pulled all the way out. If it's even the slightest bit retracted, the bottom portion won't extend downward to its lowest position, thereby letting cups fall out. My cupholder is 'sticky' but works if I pull it straight out.

If this isn't the case with yours, the dealer can fix you up under warranty.

Yeah, that usually is the problem. I spilled coffee on mine a while back, and the darn thing wouldn't even come out of the dash! I had to take it out with a screw driver and clean it throughly before it would work again

mine did this for a while, and then refused to pop open at all one day. the dealer covered it under warranty, it's just a poor design.

There are a lot of plastic-on-plastic rubbing surfaces on that cupholder. I may try a light dose of silicone lube to see if it slides out easier (never have a problem pushing it back in).
