Clear Headlights

Clear Headlights
I've seen photos on other sites where 04+ WRX and STi's have the amber color removed from the headlights. Can you remove it from the stock lights, or where can you get aftermarket clear headlights with no amber color?

Two alternatives: 1.) There's a DIY method in which you place your headlamp assemblies into an oven to loosen the glue, disassemble them, and remove the amber pieces; 2.) Buy a set of JDM headlights.
Just a general overview; I'm sure there are others here who can give you a better description, or you can run a search on the boards for a thread with the specifics.

There are huge threads that tell you how to do it. just look for them in the search part. I did it to mine. It was really easy. The only reason why you would need to fork over the $$$ for JDM ones is because they come with true HID reflectors in them. If your not going to put HID's in your car dont worry about them. HID's still look good in the factory USDM ones though too.

BTW, I just did this last Friday and it looks great! I did leave in the little parking light amber cover so there is a bit of amber showing. Definitely was worth the time and guts, although I recommend taking out whatever bulbs you can FIRST to avoid rattling them to death when you pull out the headlight fixtures. I learned the hard way and both main bulbs were shot!

I really wanna try to take those freakin reflectors out myself, but i've never really done any this mechanically advanced before. As a beginner how hard can it get and how long did it take you guys?

It took me about 2.5 hours, but it was my first time doing something like that with the car so I was pretty cautious. Definitely do ONE at a time like they say and two people is definitely a plus... taking the fixtures apart after being in the oven would have been a PITA without help.
You probably plan on this but I also recommend printing out the instructions and make sure you have the plan in your head all set out. I fumbled a couple times out of the oven cause I didn't remember how to pry the side reflector out.
Its nothing extraordinary... just takes guts really. All the tools are simple and the instructions are great.

did my 05 STi
I just completed this mod.
Took just over two hours, but I was rushing a bit.
Everything went smooth. I left the first light in for 13 minutes and
it was harder to open than the second which I left in for 18. It probably
depends on your oven, mine is rather old. As soon as we get the next
rain I'll see if they still have a good seal Very happy with the results
though.
