The lowbeams are H1's, the highbeams are 9005's, and the fogs are H3's. As a sidenote I put in 7000k lamps made by Hi-Lite in my RS and I love em. I got em off of ebay for like 15 bucks. Hope this helps. And your right the 02-03's were 9007's but the was a two headlight system the 04's have the 4 light system which I personally like better

Who knows how those lights work though?

Im curious, because Ive got an HID kit Im thinking about converting, but since the 04's have daytime running lights, Im wondering how that works. I assume the H1's are the daytime's, but when you flip the switch to turn on the lights as if you would in a normal car, the same lamps, seem to get brighter.

Can anyone explain this?

I wondered that myself. It must have a resistor in the circuit to cut down voltage in daytime mode, at least that's my best guess.
I've heard mixed things about about HID's from people who have installed them. Yes there bright, but some people have said too bright. This is a real problem after doing some research I found out new vehicles with HID's either autolevel or in the case of the STI have a reostat that lowers the lights manually to offset the weight of people in the back seat so as not to blind oncoming traffic. After finding this out I decided against them. They might be ok in rural areas, but in populated areas you'd probably get brights flashed at you and might get pulled over.

I had it in my old car, a civic with H4 bulbs. I was kind of disappointed they changed the bulb type from the H4 in 03- WRX, but oh well.

In my civic, since the H4 was the hi/lo, I lost hi's for good and really never missed it. The HIDs were bright, but not excessively so, and I never got flashed which is a surprise in packed traffic around my area (even after adjusting them up a bit).

The more I looked though, I found out that is now illegal for a vendor to sell aftermarket HID. Though it wouldn't directly effect me seeing as I already have my kit, but I wonder what the theory behind the law is.

Anyway, thanks

Chris

That's cool that they worked in your Civic w/o problems from oncoming traffic. As far as the laws go, people probably complained about them, the DOT then found out and then they in turn took action which most likely resulted in the law you mentioned. The kits I'm sure will continue to sell, but will be probably marked as "offroad" or "show" only.
