2001 Headlight/taillight question
Hey I was wondering if there was any way to get the amber out of my head/taillights. I dont have the money to get them from Japan (not sure if they would fit anyway). I was wondering if I could bake them and then pop the amber peice out. Also if anyone has done this was it succesfull. I would like to get them to look like this:

Also how long would I bake them and at what temp? what would be the best product to use to seal them back up so no moisture would get into them?
Thanks for the help...........

The front's are really easy. I just did it to my brother's '00 GT. If you go to Nasioc, there's pretty detailed instructions. Just search for "BE clear" in the Legacy forum and you should find it really easily.
I'm not so sure about the rears. My brother's also been considering getting the JDM tails, but if there was a way to clear it out by just popping the orange out that'd be sweet. The problem is that I dont' think it's just a pop out piece. I think it's integrated into the plastic. The only way to know for sure would be to remove them and check for yourself. I can't check my bro's car because he lives 5 hours away

Thanks Fibuz, that post helped out alot....used an old headlight and it was no problem, amber came right out ...getting everything lined back up was the hardest part, the clips didnt want to go back together, but thats alright since it was a broken headlight already,..atleast it can be done. Im gonna try to get everything lined up perfectly then do the headlights on my car....thanks again fibuz for your post and eastbaysubaru for directing me to that post.....

oh, I checked out the taillight situation...baking is not possible Gonna have to buy the JDM ones there...theres no way to get the yellow out short of cutting that section out and replacing with clear plastic...but that would probably either be costly to do right(more than jdm ones) or look like crap...

Just took a look through Japanparts couldnt find tails there so trying to seach everyplace else. If/when I find them I'll post them here. Also happy to say I did the headlights in my car yesterday and they came out perfect. Didnt use any extra sealent and so far after a day and a half of rain there's no condensation. Fibuz my friend im in debt to you. Ive wanted the amber out of there for the longest time and the write-up you did on it made it a piece of cake. Thank you again.
