the only reason you would want to cut is if you still want to have a connection from the factory crap ram air inlet. hahah its crap but i kept mine. you want to just take it out. then cut off the fat resonator at the bottom.

The only reason you would want to take the snorkis out is to hear a more pronounced intake "whoosh" because its main purpose is primarily as a resonator. And no, the stock ram air intake system is NOT crap; it is actually very well design. I will be reverting from my SPT intake back to the stock airbox in the next couple days because my intake is making me lose torque from what I researched....and my set up easily puts down 310+ whp on AWD Mustang dyno.

Only reason you would ever logically need an intake is if you go FMIC. Otherwise, intakes intakes mess with your A/F ratios by leaning your engine out [if untuned this can be very bad], can cause inconsistent MAF readings and give tuners a headache. The SPT adds a problem of being made from cast iron, so it heat up the MAF and messes with my maps during hot runs or weather.

I agree that it is very well designed but you can't deny that the ram could have been made to be more free flowing. Thats what i ment by crap bc if you really look at it there are holes leading to bolts and to no where. Other than that stock is all you need unless 1.you are putting out major power or 2. you want that louder "woosh" sound but thats just what i have read.

Ah gotcha! Yeah, we on the same page than Sorry, I guess I am just tired of people bashing the stock intake air box Performance wise, most effective intake mods are

1) better drop in NON-oiled filter [K&N Blitz FTW] because the oil can eventually make it down the stream and make things worst

2) after MAF silicone hose to help with air flow since the stock plastic piece is restrictive and created turbulence...and

3) if you have the budget, turbo inlet hose for the same reason as #2. This way you got a totally smooth unrestricted intake flow. And if you get it in black silicone pretty much no cop will ever be able to tell the difference from stock.

As far as the ram scoop itself...I have seen couple vendors make better quality replicas of it from higher grade materials [ie. carbon fiber and such], but it also come with a higher grade price
