Bugeye: Wiring JDM STi headlight levelers
So I've decided to share what ive learned and how i went about hooking up my bugeye JDM black chrome STi headlight leveling motors up.
this is for the 2002-2003 wrx sti JDM headlights with leveling motors but this will also work for 04-05 wrx guys with STi headlights
what you will need to do is source a donor 04-05 STi and cut the connector clips off the body harness with some wire. The more extra wire the better.
what your looking for is pictured here thanks to RLLYRCR
Headlight clips you need to connect to the right and left JDM headlight leveling motors
The next thing you will need is the harness that connects to the 6 position switch that the 2004-2005 STi came with and is located on the left side right above the fuse box/coin box on the drivers side.
What the 6 position switch looks like
Now that you have sourced all that your going to need to follow this wiring diagram to run you own wires and make a harness to link it all up.

How you go about making your wiring harness is up to you... you can either run all 6 wires from the switch to each headlights by following the wiring diagram.
or you can do what this guy did and only run the 4 signal wires needed from the switch to the headlight motors and tapped 12v and ground off the headlights and the cruise control switch.

hope this helps centralize all the info for someone looking to do this mod since it was a pain trying to dig up threads and info long lost and buried on numerous forums.

once you get the connector clip with wire for the dash switch you can technically go around having to find the headlight connectors since you could substitute the clips at the headlights by cutting it off and using spade connectors.

Sweet thanks!
Also... Wiring high beams, I have the original harness female side that goes into the high beams and when I directly plug I end up blowing a fuse and they are on like driving lights.
I know my headlights have a relay system on it. What do you think I should do?

id start buy searching scoobymods and double checking that you have yours wired correctly because something is definitely wrong.

yeah. I dunno it's hard to tell because I can see that the relays have a positive feed from the headlight harness and the ground. then has a power from 12v(battery then goes to the headlight.

Yes, it is the exact same plugs and leveler switch for the 04/05's. I did this a long time ago. I spliced up a CAT5 cable to connect the switch with the leveling harness since it has enough wires inside it to wire it up small and neat.

is the wires in the cat5 cables thick enough? I'd be worried about it burning up... But I guess if you have had it in your car for a while then thats just proof that it works!
