depends on what your looking for. you want power, quietness, looks, weight, all of the above? if i had to choose between the two i would say the evo. very quiet though.

well, they both have big tips and one is louder then the other... i myself want a quiet one so i would go with the greddy. but you gotta love the rumble of the hks!!

HKS is a waste of money. Its not fully ti and you hardly see the carbon. It also drones on the freeway and is loud all the time.

The Evo 2 sounds deep and tuned. It is also cheaper and only has about 1.5 less hp gain then the hks.

Both companies are quality though.

With a dp... the HKS carbon ti is loud!!! The evo is relatively mild when compared to the N1 style cans. I tried something different but probably everyone has one and I don't know about it ..... The Invidia G200 ti tip... and its somewhere in between. If I had to choose between the two and I lived on Oahu... I would definitely go with the Evo 2. won't attract too much attention while being sufficiently loud to get some attention. If you don't run a dp... the HKS is good while the Evo is quiet.

here is a sound clip of the HKS carbon from the mach v website:

Personally speaking I have had both I had a HKS ti muffler on my RS and I had the EVO on my STI and hands down I would go with the EVO. Cyrus is right that ti drove me nuts it is too loud and it makes the car feel at times like a huge vibrator you might as well put a big PULL ME OVER sign on top of your car. There also is the option of the Greddy SP2. I had a SP on my 94 GSR and thats when I fell in love with Geddy exhaust.

I agree. The sp2 is nice. Greddy makes a great product. The ej20 and ej25 is a loud 4 cyl. with exhaust. The evo is not as quite as it is deep sounding. It sounds like a well tunes car should.

The TI is not a waste money and is overall a better system. The bottom line is that you get more power out of it than the greddy. Yes its louder, but if you have a good stereo system, which those who are complaining about noise seem not to have, then sound from your exhaust is not as big deal as its being made out to be.

Dude the amount of power you gain in relation to cost and noise it is not worth it to me. Persoanlly all it does is draw unwanted attention which I don't nor want to put up with..And who said it was a waste of money and yes living here it is easy for cops to notice you.

lol. 1 Hp diference for a price of 200 dollars more and an annoying droning system on the freeway is not worth it no matter how you slice it. Greddy all the Way.

I don't know what planet your on, but driving an STI with the giant wing on the trunk will automatically cause unwanted attention whether you want to believe it or not. Lets also be careful not confuse the word loud with the word illegal. I have passed recon with this exhaust with no problems at all. I have also never been harassed by cops nor will i because of noise because my reconstruction permit states that the noise is within noise regulations for motor vehicles. Be assured that this exhaust system is 100%l egal in the state of Hawaii. As for the annoying droning respose it won't be a problem if you see me on the freeway, at the drag strip, or at SCCA because i'll be gone before you know it.

LOL, droning noise is for he driver not for other people on the road. It is annoying and will follow you no matter how fast you go (basic Physics).
