Have all the other toys be sent to some place to be given to non-Hawaiian kids.
"There is a world outside of this island!" This state "Hawaii" is the 50th state in the US!

hey, sorry if i offended anyone...I really appreciate all that you guys do to protect our country, I guess i'm just a victim of Hawaii's anti-military propaganda...

any accusations made without proof are just that, accusations, and it was wrong of me to jump to conclusions based on one post from someone i don't even know.

Dude, just think about what you're saying. Soldiers (and their leaders) are just people. It ain't like the gestapo. Like in every organization, there's going to be folks with little or no professional ethics, corruption, grift, etc...

As soldiers, we know that the military (whether we like it or not) is a mechanism of the people. We do what we're told. We have a strong emphasis on professionalism unlike anything you'll find in the civilian sector. We also have a code of military justice that addresses every possible infraction in accordance with how a military body and it's members should behave.

Bottom line, we are wholly a manifest of everyone in america, and their daily whims. We attack, protect, assess threat, conduct diplomacy, but only when the ordinary citizens put their voice to vote. That guy that they elect should theoretically utilize the military according to how the people want it used. Therefore, ordinary citizens are the source of how we are managed, sent to foreign lands, paid, housed... It's not a perfect system, but it's the best we got; and I'd argue that it's the best when rated against other existing systems.

When a citizen has a beef against the military that's not being addressed by the president or congress (even when it is), that citizen has the right to express his complaint however he or she wants. They can say what they want. Just remember that the folks you're complaining about are the very same ones you grew up with, see around town, even race with.

On the whole, we try to do what seems right. It's just that some folks slip through the cracks. It's difficult for an organization the size of ours to filter every nut or criminal from joining.

I just spoke with GySGT Stampp who is the Non-Commissioned Officer in Charge of the USMC Toys for Tots food and toy drive. He explained to me the procedures they follow in collecting and consolidating the toys and food.

What is alleged was a mis-read of the situation. The semi-trailer that the toys were on was sealed once the cruise was complete and moved to their warehouse in Pearl City. He said that once the toys are in the warehouse, their parent organization, the Salvation Army, is responsible for sorting the toys according to age and gender, and then only distributed only on the islands to the needy families. The families are all on a data base, and would have to have applied and showed their need. Larger groups, such as churches and missions are able to get the toys and food to help distribute.

He told me that he personally sealed and escorted the semi to their warehouse.

What my read is, is that what ChillN's friend saw was the result of an earlier toy and food drive where individual Marines collected the toys and they were compiling them in order to transport them to the warehouse. Simple as that.

You can give this gentleman a call if my explanation isn't good enough.

Pat,
that was an extremely well written, concise and thoughtful post, I thank you for that...the best thing about this country is being able to listen to different people from different backgrounds speak about their beliefs and feelings

this thread is a perfect example of that fundamental freedom.

test test.

are you trying to protect the millitary or the bad apples?

people will be people and some steal just admit it.

the millitary as a whole should do something about it.

how do you want me to get proof ? i can't even get on base.

the ones who told me are old enuff to be your dad. and they have done the toys for totts before half you military subaruians have been on the island. they don't just show up at the event to hang out. they help put it on. they wake up at 5am just to go to the park to set up. the ones who have seen what was stated are not ricers.

now enuff of these riders (more than one) have had a chance to see this theft happen. the t4t has the bigest turn out in the state when it comes to the bike run. and to decide not to go is a big thing when the riders have been so deeply involved says alot.

trying to defend the country and the military as a whole is noble. but trying to protect and defend theives you probly don't know is lame.

i got my facts and i stick by what i was told. you'd do the same with your friends.

belive it or not.

if having a harley is rice than i got 2 scoops at home.

call me an idiot. name calling is so childish go to your room. but if this is the way you can deal with somone who questions the goverment armed force then so be it.

what ever that guy may have said about why they did it is fine. but we are not talking bout a food drive. we are talking bout the t4ts. yeah someone claims the marines have theives sure they'll admit it. he still doesn't explain why they were seen goin through the bags. if i was transporting toys and it was goin to the same place it would make more sence to put a whole bag into the trunk and NOT PICK THROUGH the bags. and at the same time leaving it the rest on the trucks. another thing is that its a marine operation they have trucks that they used. makes no sence to to transport 2x. and the fact that they use personal vehicles for goverment transport is wrong. i can see the US payin millions because some soldier died using his wrx to transport t4t toys and it was blocking his sight so he banged an old lady.

you all are crying because of what i posted and what i was told like no millitary person can ever steal. so closed minded when it comes to something you believe in so much you don't open yourself to the possiblility that it may be true.

hell the military is so perfect that our former president almost got impeached. how great is our military now?
