I am glad I didn’t go to the toys for totts run and here is what I found out. For the past years I have been going to both the Bike run and the car run. But no more!!! A fellow rider that I know have pass buy the Marine base one more than one occasion only to see the same SOLDIERS go and pick toys off of the trucks and put them into private cars rite there on base.
I said maybe they are just helping to move the toys or take it somewhere. The reply quickly made me see the point. The “soldiers” were going into the bags and picking the good toys. Being very selective in what was going into their private car! Hence leaving the as you can say junk toys behind. This pissed me off!!!! To further confirm this more than one rider has seen the same actions more than one year in a row.
The second thing about the fake event is that it is rumored that the toys are not even distributed on the island. They are packed by the military and sent to the mainland or god knows where. Sure the news covers the collecting but never has it been shown where the military has delivered the toys. Not once have I seen a local event of this covered or a local kid say I got this from the marines and toys for totts. Correct me if I’m wrong. But to me it would be news would cover some event as a follow up story.
Third thing I found out is that the city is trying to charge $5000 to the street bikers united who are trying to hold/host the T4T bike event. What for you ask?? To supply the barricades & police escorts. If I know correctly this is a charity event and the state that once asked to be involved is now the same state that wants to charge SBU?! That’s just wrong!
So lets all recap this. Whither it is a car or bike event.
Pay $5000 for a non-profit event better yet a charitable event.
Have the evil military soldiers steal the toy you bought.
Have all the other toys be sent to some place to be given to non-Hawaiian kids.
Wash & wax the ride for 3 hours just so some kid I will never know will get a toy I thought will be left and used for the island.
F u c k toys for totts!!!!!

Hmm intresting........
So what your saying is this:
1) Lasy, weak *** soldiers are taking the GOOD toys and giving it to THEIR families.
2)The military is taking the "left-over" toys off island to needy mainland kids and NOT for HAWAII's needy kids.
3)The state that "asked" to be involved now whats the host of the event to PAY for the event.
I have to say there is major suckage of *** around here.
But hey! At least you all got to wear matching T-shirts. There's something positive.

I don't know much about the state's politics, but it seems as if you are drawing some conclusions about what the military is doing from pure conjecture.
Is all of that fact or something you heard or saw from a distance? Do you know for a fact if those Marines were taking the 'best' toys home?
I'd agree wholeheartedly that if they are skimming off of the top, that's a crime...fraud. Needy families NEED those toys and food. Some Marine who blew his Christmas money and can't afford to buy his kids toys shouldn't be dipping into the till. But unless you can substantiate, you're just spreading rumor against them. The military has a weak enough reputation as it is, especially on the island.
So what are you going to do? A 3 man boycott? Why don't you investigate? Toys for tots is a large organization. I'm sure that if you stated a concern to the T4T organization, with recrimination, they would certainly investigate. Maybe threaten them that you will go to the State newspaper if they don't look into it.

It would only seem right, although that's not for me to say. I mean, as far as I know, all of the toys and food could be consolidated and then distributed back out, although that seems pretty silly.
Those are toys that Hawaiian's who can afford it provide to Hawaiian's who can't. It's a very noble cause. I certainly hope that ChillN's information is inaccurate. If those Marines are skimming, it does reflect poorly on the military, but I can guarantee you that the USMC doesn't condone it. If they are skimming, it is because either the toys and food are not being closely monitored or the actual supervisor of the event is lacking in ethics, and is allowing this mismanagement to occur (or both).

Until I see documented proof of this happening or see it in person, I will remain skeptical about it. Two relatives of mine are in the Marines(and uncle was a Ranger in Nam) and I find it hard to believe that Marines would actually do such a thing that is so shameful.

tft is just good pr for the military, they don't really care where the toys go, bottom line. I have nothing against the average rank-and-file; its not the soldiers that make the evil decisions, its their higher ups.

don't go spreading a bung of sh*t you don't know about. I'm sure you and all your ricer friends are talking about it.
There are quite a few of us that can find out What, When, and Where these items are going. How about asking before "jumping" to conclusions(pun intended). You know a lot of us are in the military, so ask your 'inside sources'.
I'll talk to who I know and find out what I can. I HOPE this is just a misinterpretation.
....and just fyi, we "military soldiers and sailors" use our POV's for Lots of things that involve work, and volunteer work.

I know you feel passionately about this subject especially concerning the military, but I too would like for someone to get to the bottom of this, so that the armed service badge does not get tarnish any further.
I am one who will not condone the many because the actions of a few. Please find out more about this.

I will call around tomorrow, first thing.
And good point, just like saying everyone who resides in the US are necessarily American (although, even illegal aliens are protected by many of the Bill of Rights, ergo Mon Frer...)
Not trying to say Hawaiian residents are necessarily Hawaiian.

This sucks....
ChillN before I start my little rant. Why is it that you only seem to come on here when it's you are trying to get everyone all riled up or make a stupid joke.
Okay now on to the subject at hand.
If what you have said is correct, it sucks and I'm sorry to see it happen. I am ashamed of the Marine Corp Reserve Toys for Tots personel if they distribute amongst themselves first.
About the distrubution off island did you ever think of the other island in Hawaii or do you only know of Oahu? Granted that of the 1 million people in Hawaii 800,000 of them live on Oahu, that number includes military personel and their families. And yes there truly are some needy military families. Check out the Goals listed here http://www.toysfortots.org/2002/program.html
Right now you only have word of mouth/here say. Please do not stereotype the military, point out specific people but not the military, we make up about 30% of the population of Oahu. But if you want to stereotype how's this:
The Marine Corp Reserve is generally local people and they by your statement have the same ethics as most of the buisness people in Hawaii, "skim off the top and take a little for myself." Almost every person in a postion to benefit themself does so.
In my opinon that is what makes Hawaii suck, anyone in a postion to benefit themself does so, that and it only has three highways.

I really don't think a guy on a bike at any kind of speed, is going to be able it "see" in to the base, with any kind of detail at all.
And if he did see in to the base while riding by on a bike.....So your telling me that these guys are going to rob Toys for Tots right out in the open so everyone can see!
You know what, your an f-ing idiot. Go back to speedhawaii ricer!
Have you seen any of this for yourself?
