Be careful --
On 4/10/08, the city and county of Honolulu will launch a 30-day speeding ticket frenzy. The city estimates that 9 million dollars will be generated in speeding tickets. 1 million will go to pay police overtime. There will be 50 police on duty at all times patrolling the 9 main thoroughfares.
They are the following:
H-3 both directions
H-2 both directions
H-1 both directions
Pali Hwy
Likelike Hwy
Nimitz Hwy
Kalanianaole Hwy
Kam Hwy
Farrington Hwy
Now 5 mph above the limit can justify a ticket and every officer is supposed to pull a car over and write a ticket every 10 minutes. They have issued 30 brand new unmarked cruisers and they are bringing all their part timers on full time.

I got the same email from a friend at Fred's Auto Top Shop. It seems to be true 2, because last Thursday night coming home from the bar, I seen like 4-5 guys pulled over.

Lol, speed trap scam
I don't see the problem as long as you are going at the speed that everyone is going. If everyone is going 60 in a 50 zone, and you are going 50 in the fast lane, people will try to pass you. Unnecessay lane changes create more chances of collision. In this case, you are more of a hazard to other drivers by going by the speed limit.
Regardless, I once saw three motocops and a cruiser hanging out past the halawa off ramp, talking story and gunning cars.
HPD, please do real work like catching thieves and drug dealers. Setting up speed traps with your buddies is like going quail hunting.

just to inform you not so informed individuals there is part time for the cops...... and they are doing a "speeding sweep" they do it though every other month so its not like we havent seen this before they just switch locations and they also bring on the part timers for full time but only for a week at a time as being there full time for more than 11 days in a row constitutes full time status and believe me the hpd doesnt want to and probably cant afford to bring em on full time anyway.. as far as the speed traps just be careful its not like we all dont know where the speed traps are located...duh... hpd is always on some type of ticketing campaign ie. seat belt speeding road blocking checking for illegal cars on public roads (car cruises.... if they get word early enough theyll be looking for groups of cars roaming the island and randomly pull people over to see if their cars are legal) so dont kid yourself into thinking this is fake and that there are no ticketing campaigns going on cause just when you think its safe........WHOOOOO WHOOOOOO PULL OVER!!!! hahahahaa be careful and drive safe peeps!!!

yeh they always have something going on for speeding but not what was posted..
as for part time??? i still find that hard to believe b/c i went for HPD(didn't make it) but there was no such thing as PT. they even said that in the class. "being in the HPD is not a game this is a career and not a part time job. you life will be different if you make it into HPD" something along those lines..... hopefully a local LEO can chime in on this. maybe i am wrong?

I got rumor of a few black chargers with the mini light bar as part of a street racing unit .. Dunno if it's true as to what those cars are assigned too but if true, that's pretty interesting. 
I always see that HPD Highway Patrol car .. the Dropped Black Camaro with the large HPD insignia on the sides; that's been around for a while.
Those speeding campaign emails are weird.. What a waste of bandwith.
