Y'know what's cool?
Having selective AWD. I just bought a 1990 Subaru Loyale for $75. It is pretty crappy, but it does show some potential.
Anyhow, there's a button on the stick shift for putting it into AWD even while moving and in gear.
Another cool thing about it is that there's this big hole where the radio used to be, so I can put a big 7" LCD screen in there.
Another thing is that there is this big, mysterious hole somewhere in the rear so that I can use my nose as a wbo2. It's like 27 degrees and I had to drive home 70 miles with my window down so I wouldn't asphyxiate (sp). My eyes still burned.
Clutch is so gone that I was revving 4k going up some pretty large hills in 5th gear and slowing down. Then I'd downshift to 4th (I don't think there's a size difference between 5th and 4th.) Then I'd downshift into 3rd. The smell was burning clutch (although I think it must be almost metal to metal) but it was unlike anything I'd ever smelt before. Smelled like garbage dump.
Tires are dry rotted severely...but I made it home alright. Ha.
The thing does steer like I'd image an EVO does. Not good, but pretty twitchy.
I'm going to take a good close look at it tomorrow. I really suspect that the body is fair to poor but the chassis and frame are great. We'll see. I am most likely going to take the sawsall to it shortly anyhow.
Here's what it looks like.

Nah, it was just one of those happenstance moments. I figured that if it were in fair to good condition, then swapping certain things would be a snap. I decided that on good faith from the boards which equivocate most models of Impreza, Legacy, and Forester wrt parts compatibility.
