WRX motor planning
whats the cheapest complete WRX motor I can find locally? or whats the base price on one of them 02-03 04-05 ej20
or I can just put in an NA again...
im asking this question because when my motor blows and I dont know when cause I dont know whats wrong with it I just want to know how much to save up so when its time I know how much to spend.
does anyone have them OBO engine reader that I can use? so I can see whats going on... I dont wanna spend money on a shop to do somthing that simple.

its an OBD II scanner!!! well heres one hint "auction"........
but your gonna have a hard time finding someone that goes, unless someone on i-club goes?...... my friend told me that he saw a wrx (whole car) go as low as $1500 but there a catch!!! it was burned but the motor was good. for STI its about $5000-7000.
-dude its hard work its not just the motor, you need the ecu, whole wire harness, crossmember etc......

Which car do you have? If you just want a shortblock, you could feasibly do it for only the cost of ~$1500 or so. You've got all of your free labor within the HIIC. If you're car is a wrx or an sti, you shouldn't need to replace your heads unless they're suspect as well.
Have you tried doing a leakdown test on your car or a compression check? What leads you to believe that it's fried or almost fried?
Speaking of fried and free labor, you might want to find out if a gentleman named Mike Friedman (s/n 18hr on here) is still in town. That or talk real sweet to a gent named Francis (aka 2.5 DOHC). Both of them are worth their weight in platinum.
