I figure that the turbo spooling up faster would adversely affect gas mileage. From experience, the part that most adversely affected my gas mileage out of the up/downpipes and catback would be...........

just as long as I know there isnt something totally wrong with my car..

otherwise.. 250 is good enough for me as long as there isnt something wrong I don't know of

dunno if gas quality matters, ( i thought gas should be same)
if i use shell or chevron gas, then i get more gas mileage
and my car runs smoother.
if i used gas from aloha or freedom (typically cheaper than shell or chevron)
then i get less mileage and my car suffers from hard starting.
just my thought

^^in all honesty it shouldn't. perhaps over a long period of time there might be adverse effects but most gas should be about the same. i use shell or 76 and won't touch anything else. it's pure speculation and personal preference what gas works best for you. as far as milage there is more to it then just the car you have. perhaps the evo got less mpg due to something mechanical. maybe it needed a tuneup? what mods did it have? even things like changing the air filter can improve gas milage. i have heard of some diff and tranny fluids that claim to increase gas milage. you really need not be concerned as long as like josh said, it's not in the single digits. there also isn't really an accurate way to test if a mod gives you better milage because there are so many factors involved. even if you drive the same route to work and back everyday then one tank will last longer than the other and none of them will be the same. so this is a pretty ridiculus argument, and like i've said b4, if you are really concerned about how many mpg you are getting..."buy a fricken prius". L8R

the mods for the evo were just a drop and bov put on by the previous owner. I realize that with mods gas mileage would change. My turbo civic and celica gas mileage changed once I turbo'd both I was just interested in gas mileage because I like to research all aspects of a car before purchasing one. As for the prius, i would, but I still want to have fun while I can. Plus in the end you would spend more to fix the prius when the thing breaks. Even with the tax incentives, it still would be more expensive. Trust me, I had to do an evironmental economic report on the prius and present it.

Assuming you are able to resist the mod bug, a stock WRX will give you the best of both worlds. Shift at or before 3k rpm, go 1-3-5 on a downgrade = 300+ mi on a full tank, with AC. Step on it every chance you get = fun car that gulps gas.

Wow, everyone seem to get good gas mileage. I drive my FXT mainly in the city and I get about little than 200 mpg. I do sometime complain about the gas mileage compared to my GSR but I say it's worth it for more power and a lot more cabin space.
