To preface, I have to say that I have no real idea what I'm talking about...but the UTEC offers some form of bangbang with their launch control.

To start, you can set your rev limit while at the starting line to whatever you like. I've tried 4500. That's with both feet mashed down on clutch and accelerator.

Then when the green comes, you slip the clutch as normal (although it is a little funky and took a few passes before I figured out how to do it without bog.)

Then as you're going down the strip, you keep your right foot planted on the gas, but when you push in the clutch, the UTEC will either cut fuel or timing based on which you selected.

I used LC maybe 4 or 5 times. It's hard to say, but it very likely contributed to the death of my first transmission, however the 2nd trans going boo-boo so quickly afterwards would tend to assassinate that theory.

Not bangbang, but it's some semblance.

I think your 2nd tranny was a fluke. You bought it used, right?

On an associated topic, maybe I WILL look into the UTEC when the turbo finally gets replaced.

Well, it belonged/belongs to EdSubsonic, but was previously Rexstang's.

Hey, at least see if you can't find someone local with a UTEC that has the launch control, so you can see it demonstrated.

ALS didnt sound that bad until I read ther part that said "A huge stress on the exhaust manifold and pipes (mounted on a street car a bang-bang system would destroy the exhaust system within 50-100 km)" 100 km is what 75 miles...?? they must be talking about stock exhaust right??
