Car Info: my wife crazy with buying parts
Why is my car an A-hole?

So yesterday got a CEL saying my coolant system was malfunctioning. It was. She wouldn't maintain operating temps as of the thermostat was wide open. So I make a quick run to the parts store with whatever $$ I can scrounge together. Start to head home and look who the eff wants to warm up! Imma let her cool off and give it a run tomorrow but and suggestions? Just wanna get a good amount of info so I don't put $$ in the wrong place if she stay running right.

All signs are pointing to it but I was just caught off guard in it operating correctly when i left the parts store. Thats just wondering if anyone else has ran into this problem before of it overcooling and then suddenly operating correctly. Regardless I am planning on installing the new thermostat since I grabbed me a failsafe one.

My dodge diesel would not warm up last trip I took to WA in October. I pulled the thermostat when I got up there and the rubber gasket had deteriorated and lodged itself into the water passage. I replaced it and it worked good again. You can pull it and put it in boiling water to test it, but they are cheap, so I'd probably just go ahead and replace it.

Kid was correct. I guess when my engine was going back in after a clutch job the old one busted and the dude replaced it. Turns out there was a piece left over. It was from the radiator drain plug

I used a small flat screwdriver to remove what was left of the drain plug...or so I thought. haha

Dual purpose thermostat:
controls engine temp and a cooling system filter.
