That's interesting, here we have JDM version. I met one guy who have the STi v8 100% stock and the car sound SoOOO Sweet. But the STi v9 sound very different.

But I'm pretty sure when I was in Hawaii, some of you had 100% stock STi and the car sound like it should, but 2006 aren't.

The WRC Subaru car uses equal-length headers. At the level they compete at they do it for a reason. I run equal-length headers and admit the sound is not "Subaru", unless you actually listen to WRC videos. Some of the JDM motors are twin-scroll turbos which are also equal-length headers. I liked the Subaru "rumble", but appreciate the power of equal-length headers. To each his own.

ok so running an equal length header from a 2006 on a 2004 wrx/STi would make more power/less rumble?

Fine fine! I don't do street racing tho, but STi and M3 are the only challengers here ( and one Drag car "Nova" with a Chevy V8 with NOS 700HP+ crank ).

2006 Subaru using equal lenght? Interesting . The STi guy I met is pretty sad because when he got his car and start for the first time, he was really disappointed ( and also probably because I told him "dude! is you car on?" LOL :P).

I thought so also...

But, I came across a magazine that did an install of a header similar if not the same to my GT Spec V2...similar in design also to the Gruppe-S Header...un-equal length.

They said, in their study (can't remember the name of the manufacturer - JDM though) that their unequal length design produced better hp and torque than equal length ones...but of course, they did not elaborate on the nuimbers...

I think numbers are all relative anyhow, it's the combination of modifications and tuning...

Didn't know the 06 WRX's had equal length ones though...interesting.

Hey Olo,

As I recalled, my 04 STi was pretty quiet when it was stock, no rumble exhaust sound etc...

Anyway, how is the Fenua doing? more strikes? have not followed any news for a while now. hope everything there is going fine!

Ttyl8r man.

Better top end power w/ a equal length header. Lose low end torque tho.
