Can someone please explain to me, I don't understand why a 2.5 RS would sound like a Honda? I mean it still has a boxer motor with unequal length headers, sorry I'm confused.

Btw, Island Style(Brent), has unequal length headers. It is a 1:3/4 ratio (left and right cylinder head).

the only way u will loose ur suby rumble while putting on headers is by putting on EQ lenght headers. i have a 2.5rs with unEQ lenght headers on my car and it sounds like a suby.

What

shaggadelic said. I have equal-length headers and the Suby rumble has been gone for a long time. A lot of the better Suby headers are equal-length (Maxim, Fujitsubo, etc). WRC car uses equal-length as well (or used to).

Yeah, I'm thinking equal length headers for sure.

Well

I for one care about performance. While I like the Suby rumble, I like the performance my equal-length headers deliver. Everyone that's driven my car seems to agree. I haven't had the opportunity to test equal vs unequal with the same setup, so I'll keep an open mind. Once you've decided you "know" what works you've usually aquired "tunnel vision". I'll glue a "Type R" badge to the back of my car if it delivers bona fide horsepower.
