Lightbulb Weigh Your Car Day!

We're going to have a car weighing day at Speed Gear next weekend!
You will be able to get your car weighed and coner weighted. You can consider doing this almost like buying a new performance part for your car, ... setting the suspension up properly can make a world of difference!

So what I want to know is Who wants to do this, ... and if the day we picked is a good day for most of those that want to participate.

So tentatively, ... the date/time will be UPDATED TIME!: Saturday, 20 Dec, @ Tentatively 1000.
$50 to have your car corner-balanced, $10 to have it weighed.

So please get the word out and post up if you're interested.

Sean

**Check out page 3 for Mike's results!!!

**The List!**

1) Pat - weighed and corner-balanced - Tein Flex's
2) San - weighed and corner-balanced - Tein ?
3) Steve - weighed
4) Jason - weighed
5) Joey S2k - weighed and corner-balanced - Tein RS's

Hmmm, good idea Sean.

Ha ha. Just kidding. I'm pretty sure I'll be there.

It'll be my luck that I'll pay, we'll go through all of the weighing and stuff, only to find out I didn't need it.

Could you ask Farid if this will throw off an alignment?

oh you're a smart *** now huh? I guess you gotta find some way to be smart!

You should get your car alignment done afterwards, ..... it will depend on what's changed obviously as to how much it's affected.

You DO need it (in the sense that it will help), ... there is no way your car is cornerweighted correctly with the way you installed things.

This can change the whole "attitude" of your car, ... again results may vary depending upon the setup.
don't worry about the cost, .... I suppose you expect it to be free for everyone??

Nah, just me. I always expect that because I'm such an amiable guy.

Nah, I'd be happy to pay for that.

not that my car needs to be corner balanced, or weighed, but a few tips for those whose gonna go and do it...(i weighed mine at the scca test and tune day a while back)...

1. make sure your gas tank is FULL
2. have you and your car in "race trim" as much as you can: helmet, harnesses, race wheels/tires, etc.
3. take out all extra crap out of the car: amps, subs, etc.
4. dont forget to put yourself in the car...

and farid should have the forms for cornerweighing and stuff, but make sure the following are noted when you do it:

1. your weight
2. weight of the corners of the car LF, RF, RR, LR
3. cross weights of the car, RR to LF and LR to RF
4. amount of gas in the tank (should be FULL)
5. total weight of the car, so each corners % can be determined

even though my suspension is stock (the M3), the weights were pretty good, very close to 50/50 distribution, even the cross weights...

thanks J !!

I'd recommend this for anyone who races their car, whether it be autoX or track days, etc. Or is you're just curious as to what your car weighs, you can just weigh it.

Pat, .... I know you always wonder why your car doesn't exactly 'perform' like expected, .... this could possibly show you why!

Keeping #2 in mind as the most important thing, #1 might not be true. If you're corner-balancing the car for auto-x, then you might have the tank nearly empty (I generally try to plan out the week prior to an auto-x so I end up with only a couple gallons of gas in the tank). If you're corner-balancing the car for open track work, you might want the tank about 1/2 - 3/4 full (which assumes you start your session(s) with a full tank and deplete it until you refill when you're down to 1/4 tank or so).

I'd love to go do this, but I'm flying home on the night of the 18th.
