Believe it or not, there is quite a bunch of unmodded WRX's including bugeyes in the state of Hawaii, with many of them lurking on I-Club.

Spin is absolutely right on the gamble regarding WRX's since they(especially earlier year WRX's) have transmission problems over time.

Walter, damn it then. I only hit 23k on my motor before I sold it.

Just save up a little extra cash and get the sti. Can probably score one for $15/16k. You know you want to trust me, I own both....lol. Like boom said, the older wrx has transmission problems. My transmission at 107k had a bad 1st gear syncro. I bought a used trans from someone on here, and it's worse than my original-lol. My motor leaked like a b1tch...had to replace both valve cover gaskets...the motor itself looked good...which was surprising lol

It's not always about a previous owner babying the car. I'd rather have a mechanically inclined person who does his(or her for you badass wrencher chicks) own scheduled maintenance and actually monitors the vehicles problems (or avoidance of said problems).

Scheduled maintenance is over rated.

A little knowledge of how a vehicle works, and keeping up with what actually needs to be done isn't.

Replacing your rear differential fluid when scheduled will do verry little to help your car last longer.

Replacing the retarded plastic tanked radiator (not scheduled)with aluminum will quite possibly save you from warped heads.

Fuel injector cleaning is pretty much useless....I have never seen a clogged injector on a Japanese vehicle btw.

Replacing engine oil every 3,000 miles is a load of crap to keep people employed and manufacurers making money.

If your car isnt running rich, every 7k is just fine.

Replacing all coolant hoses (not scheduled) should be done every 50-75k.

I currently have 2 wrx's with warped heads due old hoses, one perfectly stock with all scheduled maintenance done.

Plastic intercooler y pipe is a joke and should be replaced.

The inlet pipe before the turbo should be replaced (this was subaru's worst idea to date, their PCV system puts oil into the pipe causing it to eventually fall appart. Once it cracks, it sucks in air after the maf making the car run lean...I have seen cracked pistons and spun bearings due to this.)

I have never seen engine failure due to not replacing spark plugs or an air filter when scheduled.
