Wanted Subaru WRX
I figure I would post this here because of the higher traffic. I put wanted ads on CL and FH but I havent had anyone get back to me.
I am looking to buy a Subaru WRX . Must have;
Clean title.No salvage or rebuilds.
Under 60K miles.
Manual Trans, No Autos.
Prefer to have no mods at all.
In excellent condition in and out with no mechanical problems at all.
No Wagons.
Would really like a clean un modded WRX TR but PM me with what you have and whay you want for it.
Mahalo.

I have a 2004 black wrx that I am about to put up for sale.
(It has lots of dings...thanks to all the courteous bad drivers in hawaii)
42,000 miles. But it is on it's third engine already.
Proof that mileage doesnt mean ****, it's all about how it's driven.
The engine is pretty solid now though (forged Pistons, nitrided crankshaft, ACL Race Bearings, ARP Head Studs) 280hp to the wheels
If you want a stock engine, I have a couple of those sitting around.
I'm in the middle of rebuilding a 2002 silver sedan, I can make it stock.
It has high miles (140k), but it is in better condition than my 04 with 42k.
I had an extremly clean un modded blue wrx that I sold a few months ago, only 50k miles.
I bought it with a blown engine btw, then rebuilt it. Stock usdm wrx engines are really weak.
I also bought this one with a blown engine.
Extremely clean car at 120k miles
Buying a wrx with 60k miles is a gamble, most people dont buy a wrx to drive it like a granny.
So you very well may be buying something with a cracked ring landing on a piston, been overheated and has a slightly warped head and has some gunk poured into the cooling system to keep it together long enough to sell it.

Thanks for the info spinplay01. I figured it would be really hard to find a good clean used WRX that hasnt been modded or beat on. So from what you posted, are these cars are really known for blowing motors? Or, is it just the previous owner beat the hell out of it. Ill be using the car as my DD so its gotta be reliable. Anyone have any tips on things to look for when Im looking at a used WRX.

Try to buy one that has records of all scheduled maintenance...make sure the work was done by the dealership (not all, but half the other shops are shady)
Have someone that know a lot about subarus look at it before you buy it.
They are really reliable, if you drive them easy and do scheduled maintenance.

1. SUBARU motors come alive at 100k according to Popular Subaru Tuners
2. SUBARU's SAVES LIVES(NATIONWIDE). You dont believe, research!!
3. SUBARU COMMUNITY(i-club.com) wether it be CALI,CANADA, are tightly knitted community.
4. I RECOMMEND buying from SHAGGY! If not, do compression test and leak down request.
5. Take it for a test drive and Open up the motor(though iclub dont tolerate street racing and speeding like a dumb a$$!!) to try and expose any flaws that might present itself only under heavy load. Then try to pull a CEL log to see its history of CEL troubles.
6. Listen for valve ticks, rod knocks, piston slap from the engine!!
CONS:
1.OIL STARVATION/SPUN BEARINGS is the #1 culprit for blown motors.
2. DONT EXPECT MPG's to be friendly to you. AWD consumes more gas than any other drivetrain. YOU WANT MPG's, go HYBRID or another drivetrain.
3. DONT EXPECT Insurance to be friendly on a WRX or WRX STi.
4. AWD pwns you when it comes to replacing tires!! LOL
5. IMPREZA's dont have drop down rear seats so you cant lug around bulky items(i.e. bicycles, lumberwood for the construction workers,etc.etc.)
SHOULDNT THIS BE IN THE HAWAII CLASSIFIEDS!?!?!!??

I think this is the one that was also listed on CL. Your ad said it was an 06, or is it an 07? How negotiable are you on the price?
