Want to bring my sti over
Hello everyone. Not new to i-CLUB but new to this forum. I've been living in Kona on the big island since January. My wife and I moved over to help out with the family business. We still have a place near San Francisco but I'd like to take my sti over to the Big Island.
Will my car pass the safety inspection. I have the perrin rotated gt30r kit and a fmic. Borla hush and borla exhaust manifold. The exhaust is completely catless at the moment. The suspension is stock except for the front and rear strut bars. Would I need to remove all the gauges, access port, sensors, etc? It would be shame to have to return it to stock or possibly just selling it.

from a safety check standpoint, i think that as long as your exhaust isnt unreasonably loud the front mount is the only thing that will get you in trouble. did you have to cut the bumper support or alter anything structurally to fit the IC? your suspension is stock and your headlights look like they are unaltered. depending on where you go for the safety check they may or may not want you to get recon. i think your car would pass recon anyway as long as you didnt chop your bumper. hope that helps. oh and if you can get the inspection done at a military hobby shop there then you will probably have a better chance of passing.

Well, only oahu has recon, so don't worry about it over there. As far as safety check, you may have to find a shop that will pass you in Kona, whick from the cars i see on the road, should be no problem.

if you are coming over to San Fran, there is no way your car would pass. you will need everything to be back to stock, but.... the great thing about it is you can keep you CBE hahaha. Sorry.... but Cali regulations suck. good luck

Updated my post stating that I wanted to bring my sti to the big island- Subi4Justin.
I am using a stock bumper beam but it is chopped a little. So you guys are telling me a fmic will pass if the stock bumper beam is not chopped at all? Do the inspection people take the bumper off? I don't mind putting on my original non chopped bumper beam and buying a tiny fmic just for inspection.
