Visiting Hawaii
Ok, I think its time I visit Hawaii. I was wondering where I should stay while in Hawaii. I am look to visit for a week. Is there a "best time" to visit Hawaii? Is it better to rent a condo for a week or just stay at a hotel for the week that I am there? Any hotels that I should avoid? I might be planning a trip in April or this summer. Any info will be greatly appreciated.

I dont want to spend too much for a hotel. Since I plan to stay for about a week, I was looking for something close to the beach. I guess my limit is probably $800 for a week at a hotel. I was thinking about doing one of those vacation packages that expedia offers.

hotels
hawaii prince is a nice hotel, i used to work there. the rooms all have an awesome ocean view, the staff is great and its close to the shopping center and alamoana beach park. only downside is the hotel is not on the beach, it fronts a harbor. you have to either walk to alamoana beach (5/10min walk) or to the beach in front of the hilton. or you can catch the free shuttle the hotel has that will drop you off at waikiki beach. other hotels to consider is the hyatt regency, hilton hawaiian, aston waikiki beach (recently renovated), hawaiian regent (also recently renovated). the hyatt, aston and regent are all on kalakaua ave which is across the street to waikiki beach.

hawaii prince is very nice, so is the hilton hawaiian village if you ever can afford it. but besides them, like skoobieblue said, you want them to be on kalakaua ave, the waikiki mainstreet.
