VF30 vs. VF39

Well we took a STi VF39 out today...and going to replace it with a VF30...Physically it looks about the same....The Compressor wheel looks the same on the VF39 as the 30....But the Exhaust side is bigger on the VF30 compared to the 39....there is about 2mm difference (Bigger) on the 30...The wheel itself is a little smaller than the 39 (about 1.0 mm diff) but the Exhaust Snail is definately bigger on the 30 by 2.25 mm...so we'll see...also putting on a BPM GT turboback on the STi and cranking the boost about 3-4 psi over stock....injectors are 570cc from Subaru so if any gains are to be made on the 30 it will probably be on the topend side....Probably going to have a little more lag with the 30 vs the 39 but like I say we will see...I will report more as I know it..

The VF39 looks like it would be a GREAT upgrade over a 30 for Spoolup and torque on the bottom...so the STD WRX's should be happy..

Small update from Alex:

No way Subaru would put a BB turbo on a car OEM.

That is the same reason why I recommend VF30 over VF34.

Current dual-thrust bearing technology is in no way or form is not as good as the BB. BB fail more often. Replacement center sections are BANK!

That would only matter on LARGER turbochargers.
