The one where you use a screwdriver and stick it in the plug wire then stick that near anything with a negative charge to see if it sparks.
Well I guess that's more for like a Chevy or something

I had a similar problem on the RS I had and it was the coil. It went bad and made the car run like crap it also ruined one of the plug wires. That car dosen't have coil packs it just has the coil on top of the engine I believe. Yea when mine went bad it went all of the sudden no hints something was going wrong.

I agree with silver satin. My RS had the same problem...it started to misfire and run like crap and it turn out it was the coil on the top of the intake manifold. I could see spark arcing to one of the bolts that fatens it to the intake manifold.
First thing I would do is change the plugs to comething cheaper...N/A RS's don't like the fancy- shmancy titanium or iridium- tipped spark plugs. If that doesn't help, check for arcing coming from where the spark plug wires connect to the coil pack. It might be arcing to one of the bolts like mine did...but you have to look really close. If you see that (or don't), replace the coil pack. That solved the problem for mine.

Yeah what I am calling the coil pack is the pack on top of the engine. That was my next thing to try. If I get home tonght at a decent hour I'll look for sparks jumping from the coil pack. Why would it just happen all of the suddent though? That is what is bothering me, most problems don't just happen immediatley there is a slow progression. Thanks for the help everyone.

Dude, I didn't realize I was arguing with anyone. Sorry if it came off like that, right above your post I put Thanks for the help! I am going to pick up a coil pack, coil, whatever it's called tomorrow that I know works to try. I hope that will fix it. Once again thanks to Joey, and Jeremiah for the help. Thanks to blake, huby, and Jon as well.

****, you know I'm going to have to come down to AK to check out your pimp G35! Me and Pat if he ever gets that car of his back together, and gets time off will have to give visit right after you get your rally course set up.

Were going to hold off on buying a house. I want to see if I want to stay there long enough to buy. Plus I want to take my time to find a place in the right area and one with at least 5-10 acres so we can set up the track correctly. My wife said I was nuts if I go through with trying to make a track on my land I told her it would be ours so we could do what ever we wanted as long as we weren't running a business..

Well I just swapped the coil pack on top of the engine and still no response from cylinder 3. I need a fix for this ASAP. My STi just developed an electrical problem that is going to take a long while to fix.
